Transmission Gully needs exemption from freshwater plan

NZTA have sought to change the Wellington region freshwater plan to allow Transmission Gully Motorway to proceed. They have admitted in their request that they are unable to meet the standards set in the plan. Submissions are due on 11 March.  Issues a submission might want to address include:

  • the need to maintain protection for important freshwater bodies
  • the types of mitigation activities that the motorway builders should carry out
  • whether you think that the motorway is so regionally important that it warrants damaging regionally significant waterbodies
